DORA BONINI
University of Bristol
I am a GW4 BioMed MRC Doctoral Training Partnership PhD student at the University of Bristol in the @ProfRuthMassey lab. I study novel genes in Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus to understand the mechanism by which they affect the virulence of these pathogens. I am interested in how microbes cause disease and how this links to antimicrobial resistance. In the future I would also like to focus on the development of new antimicrobials and on translational research.
LYNDEN ROOMS

I'm a DSTL funded Ph.D. student in the Race lab at the University of Bristol. My main research focus is to elucidate the structural relationship between antibiotics and their cellular targets, with a view to driving rational drug design and explaining the occurrence of AMR at a structural level. I also work on several biosynthetic enzymes involved in the production of said antibiotics and aim to hijack other biosynthetic pathways to produce self-healing polymers in a SynBio approach.
BINJUAN LIU

I am a PhD student in Bristol Medical School at the University of Bristol. I study Population Health Sciences and I’m interested in the socio-cultural determinants of AMR in the agriculture sector. My main PhD project will be an ethnographic research to study the practices of agricultural antibiotic use and AMR transmission ecologies. I’m also involved in a multi-disciplinary research team in UK-China AMR Hub looking at AMR in China from a One Health perspective.
EMMA ROBERTSON
University of Bath
I am a GW4 FRESH PhD student at the University of Bath, working within the Environmental Chemistry and Public Health research group (Professor Barbara Kasprzyk-Hordern). My research investigates the chemical behaviour of pharmaceuticals and other emerging contaminants within a constructed wetland. Working in partnership with Wessex Water, I aim to understand how wetland systems may be used as a polishing step in wastewater treatment to reduce the discharge of pharmaceuticals to the freshwater environment.
CRISTINA BALLESTEROS
University of Bristol
I am a vet epidemiologist currently working as a Senior Research Associate at the Bristol Veterinary School. My research is focused on providing a better understanding of AMR and its drivers in different farming systems as well as its potential implications for the environment and human health.
SALI MORRIS
University of Bath
I am a GW4 MRC PhD student at the University of Bath, working in the Biology and Biochemistry department in the lab of Dr. Susanne Gebhard. My research examines the antimicrobial resistance pathways within the bacteria Enterococcus faecalis. My work focuses on the mechanisms by which E. faecalis becomes resistant to a number of antibiotics and how with a better with a better understanding of the genes involved, we can identify an Achille's heel within the resistance network to produce novel treatments.
